Commander as Chief Guest Presents "Aktha Pathra" to Nayake Thero

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army as the Chief Guest presented the "Aktha Pathra" (Act of Appointment) to Ven Getaberikande Rathanasiri Thero, Chief Incumbent of Jayathilakarama temple at Peliyagoda who has been appointed as the Chief Sangha Nayake for Western Province along with the honorary title of 'Wimalasiri Wanshalankara Dharmakeerthi Sri' and conferred "Aggamaha Saddhamma Jothika Dhaja" honorary designation.

The ceremony took place at Peliyagoda Jayathilakarama temple premises, headed by the acting Maha Nayake of the Amarapura Maha Nikaya, Ven Paragoda Uyangoda Maithree Moorthi Nayake Thero of the Amarapura Maha Sangha Sabha.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, presented the "Aktha Pathra" while Mr. Tha Thu, Human Resource Management Consultant at Embassy of Myanmar awarded the "Aggamaha Sadhdhamma Jothika Dhaja" credentials to the Nayake Thero. Army Chief also presented a memento to the Nayake Thero in appreciation of his service to ‘Sasana’.

A large gathering of monks (Maha Sangha), Mrs Janaki Liyanage, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Brigadier L.G.B Kariyawasam RWP RSP USP, Commander, 141 Infantry Brigade and the laity were present at the ceremony.
