Commander Assures Support for Smooth Conduct of NDC Affairs

Major General Amal Karunasekara (Retd), Commandant, National Defence College (NDC) on Friday (01) paid courtesies to the recently-appointed Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage during a visit to the Army HQ.

The visiting Commandant, NDC during the meeting briefed the Army Chief on the progress of the recently-established NDC as the premier institute that promotes strategic thinking for the senior officers of theTri-Services, Police and Public Service and how it provides holistic knowledge with a view to developing highly qualified strategic decision-makers in the realm of national security, statecraft, diplomacy and public policy to ensure national security and national development of Sri Lanka. Several other matters of administrative nature were also brought to the notice of the Commander of the Army during the interactions.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage assuring all possible assistance to the growth of the NDC in turn expressed happiness over the NDC's conduct of affairs and wished the College emerge as one of the best NDCs in the world in future. Major General Amal Karunasekera (Retd) gratefully acknowledged the support, being extended by the Army throughout since its formative phases and requested the new Army Commander to sustain the same continued cooperation.

At the end of the interaction, the Army Chief awarded a memento to the Commandant, NDC.
