Commander of the Army Visits War Heroes at ‘Mihindu Seth Medura’

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG, Commander of the Army, together with Mrs. Swendrini Rodrigo, the President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), visited War Heroes at Mihindu Seth Medura, Aththidiya on 07 January 2025 after assuming duties as the 25th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.

Upon arrival, the Chief Guest was accorded a formal drive pass at the entrance of Mihindu Seth Medura and welcomed by a resident War Hero in accordance with military traditions.

At the outset, the Commander of the Army, accompanied by the President of the ASVU, Officers, and Other Ranks, visited the wellness centre and inquired about the well-being of its residents. During the visit, a special artwork created by Sergeant H.M.W.B Galagedara RSP of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was presented to the Army Chief.

Afterwards, the Commander interacted with the residents during a tea party, followed by the screening of a special documentary about Mihindu Seth Medura.

Later, the Commander of the Army posed for a group photograph and penned the complimentary remarks in the visitors’ book.

Principal Staff Officers, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks participated in the event.
