Commander of the Army Visits Mullaitivu Camp

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army paid a courtesy visit to the Mullaitivu camp on 27 March 2024 with the intention of inquiring the wellbeing of the Security Forces - Wanni (SF - Wanni) troops after the recent suppression and restructuring process of Security Forces Headquarters – Mullaitivu.

Major General W.P.A.D.W. Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, the Commander, SF - Wanni warmly welcomed the Army Chief after troops greeted him in a Drive Pass.

Soon after, he addressed the troops of 59 Infantry Division in the premises and towards the end an exchange of mementoes took place as symbols of memory of the visit. Additionally, the Commander of the Army planted a sandalwood sapling in the premises.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, then took some time off to visit the Kulamurippu Tile Factory located in Oddusuddan which is now under the renovation by Army troops.

The factory was abandoned for years and the Army began the renovation project on 15 February 2024 under the instructions of the Commander of the Army and the direct supervision of the Commander – SF Wanni, responding to a special request made by Mr. Ruwan Munasinghe, the Chairman of Ceylon Ceramics Corporation. The factory is renovated aiming to creating job opportunities for locals and uplifting the welfare of the public in the area.

The Military Secretary, General Officers Commanding of 21, 54, 56 and 59 Infantry Divisions, the Commander, Logistic Command – Wanni, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the occasion
