Commander of the Army Pays a Formal Courtesy Call on the New President

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, paid his first formal courtesy call on His Excellency Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the 9th Executive President of Sri Lanka and the Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces, this afternoon (04 October) at the Presidential Secretariat.

During the courtesy visit, the Army Chief extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to the newly appointed President. The President expressed the need for the Army to continue maintaining the national security.

The Commander of the Army assured the Army's unwavering commitment to ensure the stability and security of the country to the President while providing an update on its current state of readiness to meet contemporary challenges. Additionally, the Army Chief briefed the arrangements to commemorate the upcoming 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army to the President.

Towards the end of the brief interaction, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage presented a memento to the President symbolizing the event.
