The Commander of the Army Addresses Commanding Officers

The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, addressed the Commanding Officers of all Battalions at the Multifunction Hall of Army Headquarters on 06 March 2024. Commanding Officers who were unable to attend physically participated through the virtual platform.

In his address, the Commander expressed gratitude for the unwavering commitment and exemplary service exhibited by the Commanding Officers in their pivotal roles as ground level commanders.

One of the central directives emphasized by the Commander was the paramount importance of ensuring the welfare of soldiers under their command. The Commander highlighted the importance of ensuring the wellbeing of troops, both in terms of physical necessities and psychological support.

Additionally, the Commander gave clear instructions regarding the maintenance of discipline among soldiers, emphasizing the imperative of upholding the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Notably, he emphasized the necessity of vigilance in preventing soldiers from engaging in illicit activities, thereby safeguarding the reputation and honour of the Army.

As the Army continues to navigate through evolving challenges, the guidance provided by Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility shared by all members of the Army.
