Major General W.M.P.M Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding of 57 Infantry Division, visited the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) centre at Kalugahathenna Vidyalaya and landslide-affected areas in Rideegama and Kalugahathenna on 29 November 2024.
The visit aimed to assess the ongoing disaster developments, evaluate the status of emergency relief efforts, and inspect the condition of the IDP centres.
Colonel H.H.S.P.S. De Silva RSP USP, Officiating Commander of the 571 Infantry Brigade along with Major T.S.P Kumara RSP, Commanding Officer of the 9 Sri Lanka National Guard, also visited the area on 30 November 2024.
Police Officers, government officials, disaster management representatives from Kurunegala, representatives from NGO World Vision and volunteer organizations participated in the visit.
