Marking the maiden visit to the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Training School, (SLAVFTS) Diyathalawa following the assumption of duties as the Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force arrived to the SLAVFTS as the Chief Guest to certificate awarding ceremony upon the invitation of Colonel J.A.J Jayaratne KSP, the Commandant - SLAVFTS on 03 September 2024.
The Commandant-SLAVF was warmly received by the Commandant - SLAVFTS upon his arrival according him with a Guard Turnout in accordance with the customary military formalities.
The occasion followed the planting of a sapling and posing for a group photograph as souvenirs of his visit to the training school.
Prior to the most vital occasion of the day’s agenda, the Commandant SLAVFTS delivered a concise speech about the inception and proud history of the SLAVFTS.
Later on, a presentation prepared by the students of the Administrative Assistant Course was unfolded on stage.
Subsequently, the certificates were awarded for National Vocational Qualification Levels 3 and 4 completed students by the Commandant SLAVF. Accordingly, 36 students who successfully completed the Administrative Assistants Course recieved the certificates.
Afterward, an inspirational troop address was delivered by the Commandant SLAVF educating the audience while extendeding gratitude to all staff who contributed their cooperation to uplift the standard of training of volunteer members.
Then he visited the training school premises and pledged to improve the school's infrastructure facilities. Later, he presented a treadmill, to the Gymnasium with a view of improving the physical fitness of the students.
As the last segment of the event, mementos were exchanged by both parties as tokens of appreciation.
The occasion was witnessed by Brigadier (Administration) SLAVF, Colonel (Training) SLAVF, Colonel (Logistics)-SLAVF, and a large gathering which included Senior Officers, Officers, Students and Staff of the Volunteer Force Training School.
