Colonel of the Regiment's Pioneering Efforts Complete Three More New Houses

On the eve of his retirement, Major General Jayanath Jayaweera, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI and the Commandant, OCDC at Buttala brought his own house construction project to completion after constructing three more new houses to deserving soldiers and a civil employee working for the Army.

The conceptually-effected SLLI Housing Project of the SLLI Colonel of the Regiment wanted a total of 20 new houses for families of fallen War Heroes and battle-wounded differently-able soldiers of the Sri Lanka Light infantry be prioritized with the patronage of respective battalion troops, Regimental HQ and other volunteering donors and Army supporters.

In this way, a new house constructed under the supervision and efforts of the 15 SLLI was warmed and vested in one of the Staff Sergeants in Kantale area at a cost of Rs 1.3 m on Tuesday (24) during a brief ceremony. Major General Jayaweera as the Chief Guest delivered the keys to the beneficiary and warmed the new house in the presence of officers, other ranks and relatives of the War Hero.

Just a few hours after on the same day (24), the pioneering Senior Officer arrived at Rideegama and vested another new house in another wounded Lance Corporal. Built by troops of the recipient’s own 20 SLLI Regiment with the support of others, the new house too cost Rs 1.3 m as estimated by the RHQ-SLLI. Fellow-soldiers of the 20 SLLI volunteered their resources and manpower for the construction.

Meanwhile, 24 SLLI troops, appreciative of the services of a civil employee who worked for the SLLI for years built one more new home at Harispattuwa and invited Major General Jayaweera to warm it and formally vest it in the family. The entire expenditure of the house was restricted to Rs 1.3 million, footed by 24 SLLI troops and the RHQ SLLI. The house warming ceremony adhering to health guidelines took place on Wednesday (25).

Amid religious blessings, invoked by members of the Maha Sangha, the keys to these new houses were handed over to respective SLLI soldiers and the civil employee by the Colonel of the Regiment. Brigadier Anura Dissanayake, Centre Commandant, Members of the Regimental Council, officers and soldiers, relatives of beneficiaries attended those respective warming ceremonies. latest Running | adidas Yeezy Boost 350
