Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army during his visit to the SFHQ-Central at Diyatalawa on Friday (30) on the sidelines of the main programme took time off to lay the foundation stone for erection of the new Holiday Bungalow of the Gajaba Regiment (GR) in the garrison town.
Major General WRMM Rathnayake RWP RSP USP ndu, a senior Council Member of the Gajaba Regiment and General Officer Commanding of the 61 Division received Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army on his arrival at the location for cornerstone laying.
After brief religious observances, the day’s Chief Guest, amidst ‘Pirith’ chanting laid the cornerstone for the construction of the new Holiday Bungalow. This proposed Holiday Bungalow is to be constructed for the use of all ranks of the Gajaba Regiment.
Council Members of Gajaba Regiment, GR Senior officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
