The Military Secretary and the 14th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC), Major General S. W.M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc made his inaugural visit to the 1st Reconnaissance Regiment SLAC as the Colonel Commandant on 18 October 2023.
He was accompanied by Brigadier P.N Wijesiriwardena RSP USP, the Centre Commandant, Regimental Centre SLAC and Brigadier L.K.T Fernando RSP USP, Commander Armoured Brigade.
During the visit, the Colonel Commandant inspected the camp premises and welfare facilities of the troops. Further, during the officers' address, he emphasized the strategic importance of the Regiment along with the fleet, the importance of maintaining absolute discipline and the importance of being an example to the Other Ranks.
Before his departure, he made a complimentary note in the visitors’ book at the 1 1st Reconnaissance Regiment SLAC.
