The familiarization training for Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) equipment, donated by China, concluded on 28 October 2024 with a closing ceremony. Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander of Security Forces (West), awarded certificates and commended China’s support with EOD equipment worth 32 million Sri Lanka Rupees.
The event featured live demonstrations of the REOD 4000 and REOD 400 robots, highlighting participants' advanced skills. Senior Chinese officials, including Defence Attaché Senior Colonel Zhou Bo, and representatives from the equipment manufacturer attended.
Under the guidance of Major General T.C. Peiris RSP USP, the Chief Field Engineer, 20 Officers and 42 Other Ranks completed hands-on training, enhancing the Corps’ readiness to manage explosive threats and contribute to regional stability.
