Civilians Give Tips &;amp; Police Uncover More LTTE Claymores &;amp; Ammo

MANNAR: AS THE resettlement programme in the MANNAR district gets underway, the Police have expanded their search wing and clearing operations without taking any risks whatsoever. 

A series of search and clear operations conducted in the areas between 29th April- 3rd May, the Police supported by Army troops uncovered further stocks of LTTE military items, left hidden or buried by evicted LTTE terrorists.

Those items included one landmine weighing about 10kg, one claymore mine of 10kg, one claymore mine of 8kg, four more claymore mines of about 2.5kg each, a 7 kg stock of site chargers used for mortars, one Johny mine, twenty-eight detonators, 15m long-wire code, three Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG) and two chargers  used for production of them.
