With the intention of popularizing volleyball among sports clubs in the civil sector, the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) has launched a volleyball tournament, covering 211, 212 and 213 Brigade Headquarters’ areas in the 21 Division of the SFHQ-W.
The first round finals in the tournament took place recently at the volleyball court, 21 Division Headquarters with the participation of a dozen of sports clubs, comprised of both men and women.
Championship (men) of the tournament was won by King Boys Sports Club in the 211 Brigade area while the championship (women) went to Rantharu Sports Club in the 212 Brigade area. Runners-up trophies in both categories were respectively clinched by St. Anthony’s Sports Club (213 Brigade area) and Ulukkulama Sports Club in the 211 Brigade area.
A large number of sportsmen and women in those areas, General Officer Commanding, 21 Division, Civil Affairs Coordination Officer in 21 Division, civilians and other ranks watched the tournament throughout the day.
