Civil Affairs Officers in the Army Get Better Exposure to their Roles

An important training workshop for Civil Affairs Officers of the Sri Lanka Army got underway for four days (20-23 April) at the Army Headquarters in order to educate them on all facets of management of civil affairs on a concept of the Commander of the Army and in line with the 'Way forward strategy-2020-2025'.

Organized by the Directorate of Psychological Operations at the Army HQ, 49 Civil Affairs officers representing different establishments in the country participated in the workshop. An eminent panel of lecturers delivered those lectures.

Catholic/Christian Culture by Major General Manjula Karunarathna , General Officer Commanding 64 Division, Contemporary civil affairs and its importance on National Security Interests by Brigadier Anurudda Senevirathna, Director Psychological Operations, Sri Lanka Army Civil affairs in next 5 years with reference to Army " Way forward strategy /Present Method of Operations by Colonel Bandula Kodippili, Responsibilities and Ethics of Civil Affairs Officer by Colonel B.M.R.J Bandara, Country's Prevailing Security Situation by Lieutenant Colonel K.J Ranaweera, Social and Cultural issues of Sri Lanka, Dr Sinharaja Thammita Delgoda, Hindu Culture, by Lieutenant Colonel B.G.S Samanthi, Buddhist Culture Major T.P.G.K.P Alwis, Islamic culture by Ashek Amihar Hakamadin Mawlavi, Sri Lanka Civil Administration and Protocol by Mrs Chathuradi Wijesinghe were among major areas that were taken up for discussion during these sessions.

The closing ceremony of the workshop was held on Friday (23).
