The badge-awarding ceremony plus the passing out parade of the Officers' Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare Course No - 33 (CIJW) and the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare (CIJW) Course No - 35 for Other Ranks were separately held at the Army Training School in Maduruoya (ATS), headed by Brigadier L.G.J.N Ariyathilake RWP RSP, Commandant, ATS who graced both occasions as the Chief Guest.
The CIJW Course No - 33 consisted of 31 Officers, including 1 Foreign Officer from Bangladesh. Captain M.A Gunawardna of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was awarded as the Best Student Officer of the Course.
Meanwhile, 59 soldiers, who successfully completed the Jungle Warfare (CIJW) Course No - 35 were awarded certificates on Thursday (Nov 16). Corporal A.G.C.N Amarasooriya was adjudged the best student in the course.
Lectures and outdoor training exercises were among training modules of both Courses. Commanding Officer of ATS, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the occasion.
