Under the guidance of Major General H.C.L Galappatthi RSP USP, General Officer Commanding of 24 Infantry Division and the supervision of Officiating Brigade Commander, 241 Infantry Brigade, a community programme to mark the dawn of Christmas 2024 was held on 20 December 2024 at the Methodist Church, Akkaraipattu.
During this event, school items and gifts were distributed among 70 school students. The financial generosity for the programme was extended by Mr. A.I. A Rangana, Lecturer of Vocational Training Centre, Kadawata. Rev. Fr. S Jeganathan, the Chief Priest of St. Francis Xavier's Church, Aligambay, Divisional Secretary of Alayadiwembu Mr. R. Thiriviyaraj, Civil Affairs Officer 241 Infantry Brigade, Officers and Other Ranks along with 200 civilians attended the joyful celebration.
