With the intention of promoting religious reconciliation and peace among all ethnic communities during Christmas season, a special Christmas Carols programme was organized by the 57 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi (SFHQ – KLN) on 29 December at the “Nelum Piyasa” auditorium.
Major General Amal Karunasekara, Commander, SFHQ – KLN graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, together with Mr A Arumunayagam, District Secretary, Kilinochchi, Brigadier W.A.S. Weerawardena, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 65 Division, Brigadier M.D. Wijesundara, Acting GOC, 57 Division and a host of civilians
.Parish priests, including Rev. Fr.Daniel Moorthi, Rev. Fr. Vigneshvaran, Rev. Fr. Soloman Dickson, state officials and civilians in the Kilinochchi area also participated.
During the occasion, Christmas message was delivered after hymns. Christmas Carols and dance were staged by the teams of St. Theresa Church, St. Baptist Church and Karunanilayam Church in Kilinochchi area.
Afterwards, gift packs were also distributed among 100 kids of the area. A dinner party thrown for all ranks the same evening culminated Christmas arrangements.
