ARMY troops of 234 Brigade in Punani, Kallady on account of Poson Poya Day visited children orphanages in the area and distributed food and clothes among the inmates.
Children in Unnachchimunai and Kallady children’s homes were delighted and excited to receive military guests with gift parcels on that day. An initiative taken by the troops as part of their civil coordination work enabled the officers to visit those children. Senior Army officers and several representatives from the civil sector supported the donation.
Administrators and children in those centres extended a warm welcome to the guests and showed them around during their stay. Army authorities assured further assistance to the inmates in the future. Some of those inmates received educational books and school accessories. Major General S. Rajapaksa, Commander, Security Forces East has given his support to the project.
