Children Encouraged to Gain Knowledge on Agriculture

The 09th 'Agricultural Knowledge Improvement and Leadership Development Workshop', themed "Haritha Niyamuwo", an initiative taken by the Wayamba Training Institute in collaboration with Army personnel of 1 Sri Lanka National Guard and 1 Sri Lanka Army Women Corps got underway on Saturday (10 June) at the Wayamba Training Institute premises in Wariyapola.

The workshop was aimed at imparting agricultural knowledge for 70 children, residing at Meegahakotuwa Remand Home, located in the Kurunegala District.

Army personnel provided physical training instructors and conducted leadership sessions that included theoretical and practical group activities for the students. As a result, the students were able to acquire more knowledge regarding leadership qualities, world food safety programmes and green agriculture, etc.

The workshop was closely supervised by the Commander, 143 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer of 1 Sri Lanka National Guard under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division with the blessings of the Commander Security Forces-West.

In parallel to the programme, a similar workshop was conducted on Saturday (27 May), with the participation of 70 students from Konwewa Maha Vidyalaya and R.G. Senanayaka Maha Vidyalaya (National School) in Kurunegala District.
