Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Chief of Staff made a field visit to the 4 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) camp at Kiralagolla on Friday (21) as his first one after assumption of new office.
Lieutenant Colonel W.D.D.R Weerapura, Commanding Officer of 4 SLLI warmly welcomed Major General Channa Weerasuriya on arrival at the camp entrance where 4 SLLI troops saluted him in a Guard Turnout.
Afterwards, the 4 SLLI Commanding Officer delivered a comprehensive briefing and outlined their role and tasks. Subsequently, the Chief of Staff addressed the troops and highlighted the importance of maintaining high standards of discipline and sustained training in the battalion.
Adding symbolic importance to the visit of the Chief of Staff, the Commanding Officer presented a special memento to the day’s Chief Guest.
Before his departure, he did not forget to pen a complimentary remark in the Visitors’ book at the 4 SLLI camp.
Major General Channa Weerasuriya several years ago served as the 12th Commanding Officer of the 4 Sri Lanka Light Infantry battalion.
SLLI Centre Commandant, few Senior Officers and Other Ranks were associated with the visit.
