Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan on Goodwill Tour Meets Army Chief

The Chief of the Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi NI (M), S BT, currently in Sri Lanka on a four-day long goodwill visit called on Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army on Monday (27) at the Army Headquarters.

The visiting Chief of the Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, on arrival at the Army HQ premises was received by Colonel D.K.R Perera, Commander, Army Headquarters Brigade. Afterwards, in a formal military ceremony, the visiting Chief of the Naval Staff was honoured by presenting a Guard Turnout, and a subsequent Guard of Honour by troops of the Sri Lanka Artillery. In the company of Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Adjutant General, the day's Chief Guest, Amjad Khan Niazi NI (M), S BT, reviewed the Guard of Honour.

A few seconds later, his host, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army lent a hearty welcome to the visiting Chief of the Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy at the entrance to the main building before he was introduced to Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters by the Commander of the Army at the entrance.

Afterwards, all Senior Officers, together with the visiting Chief of the Naval Staff sat for a group photograph adding memories to his visit to the Army Headquarters.

During the meeting that ensued with Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage at his office, the visiting Chief of the Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy exchanged views on bilateral matters of concern to both the Sri Lanka Army and the Pakistan Navy. Discussions also focused on security in the region and other related issues.

Adding significance to his visit to the office of the Commander of the Army, the visiting Chief of the Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy left his compliments in the Visitors' Book at the Commander’s office. Before Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi’s NI (M), S BT exit, both military leaders, determined to continue their understanding and goodwill exchanged mementos and symbolized their close neighbourhood affiliations.

Major General S.U.M.N Manage WWV RWP RSP psc, Director General General Staff and Major General S.W.M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc Military Secretary were also associated with the discussion at the Commander’s office.

The visiting Chief of the Naval Staff is also scheduled to visit various places of the island, the Eastern Naval Command and Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee before he leaves on Tuesday (28 February).
