Chief of the Naval Staff of Indian Navy on Goodwill Tour Arrives at Army HQ

The Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, Admiral R Hari Kumar PVSM AVSM VSM ADC, now in Sri Lanka on a five-day long goodwill visit called on Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army on Tuesday (13) afternoon at the Army Headquarters.

His visit, meant to promote existing bilateral relations and maritime co-operation further was welcomed at the Army Headquarters in a formal military ceremony where the visiting Chief of the Naval Staff was honoured by presenting a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour. On arrival at the premises, he was received by Colonel D.K.R Perera, Commander, Army Headquarters Brigade.

The visiting Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy was afterwards introduced to Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters by the Commander of the Army at the entrance to the main building after extending a hearty welcome to the day’s guest from our neighbourhood.

Afterwards, all senior officers, together with the Chief of the Naval Staff sat for a group photograph and left memories of his visit to the Army Headquarters. Subsequently, he was invited to the Commander’s office for formal interactions.

During his meeting with Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, the visiting Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy exchanged views on bilateral matters of concern to both the Sri Lanka Army and the Indian Navy. Discussions also focused on maritime security in the region and related other issues. Adding significance to his visit to the office of the Commander of the Army, the visiting Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy left his compliments in the Visitors Book at the Commander’s office.

Before Admiral R Hari Kumar’s exit, both military leaders, determined to continue their understanding and goodwill exchanged mementos.

Major General S.U.M.N Manage WWV RWP RSP psc, Director General General Staff and Major General D.B.S.N Bothota RWP RSP USP psc, Military Secretary were also associated with the discussion at the Commander’s office.
