Chief justice in Jaffna to lay foundation stone for new court complex

Chief Justice Mr. Sarath N. De Silva was received warmly in Jaffna by legal luminaries when he recently visited there to lay foundation stone for a new Court Complex.

After a brief tour to the Jaffna High Courts complex as first leg of his day's itinerary, the visiting Chief Justice did not forget to pay his obeisance to the most sacred Nagadeepa Vihara. He was later on conducted on an inspection tour to the Mallakam Magistrate Court where he had a brief and frank exchange of views with Jaffna-based members of the legal fraternity, in an attempt to identify their shortcomings and difficulties.

Jaffna High Court judge Mr K.P. S Vardharaja, Jaffna District Magistrate, Mr. R. T Vignarajah, Chavakachcheri Magistrate/District judge Mr B. Subramaniyam, Secretary to Ministry of Justice Mr. S. K. Gamlath, Secretary to Judicial Services Commission Mr. Jayatilleke, Directress for Law and Judiciary Ms. Shyamali Gunawardene and several others were associated in this meeting.

A special guard of honour was accorded by the Police to mark his visit to the peninsula.
