Chief Field Engineer Makes Fields Visits

Major General Nihal Amarasekara, Chief Field Engineer of Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers made a field visit to road construction project to the just-opened field firing range at Tampitiya – Maha Oya, on Friday (16) which has been undertaken by 7 Field Engineer Regiment troops.

The progress of the project was discussed with Lieutenant Colonel J.L.N Silva, Commanding Officer, 7 Field Engineer Regiment before necessary guidance was given with regard to the project.

Thereafter, he inspected the ongoing renovation work at Hingurakgoda Rajarata Vidyalaya playground and construction of the library building which are currently being carried out by 7 Field Engineer Regiment and 12 (V) Corps of Engineer Services troops under the Presidential project ‘Gama Samaga Pilisandarak’ programme. He also visited the construction works at Royal College, Polonnaruwa, being carried out by 12 (V) CES troops.

Thereafter he made a field visit to the Humanitarian Demining site at Mahawelithenna on Saturday (17) which is being done by 7 Field Engineer Regiment under the Security Force Headquarters - East.

Lieutenant Colonel J.L.N Silva, Commanding Officer of 7 Field Engineer Regiment and Site Officer, Captain D.M.S.K Dissanayake Sri Lanka Engineers briefed the current progress and tasks being carried out in the area.
