Chief Field Engineer Invited as Chief Guest to Visakhkians’ ‘Colours Night’

Major General S.A Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, the Chief Field Engineer and Commander of the Engineer Division graced the Visakhakians’ Colours Night as the distinguished chief guest, representing Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army on Thursday (21 Dec).

The Visakhakians’ Colours Night was held at the Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, heralding achievements and adding due recognition to the talents. The occasion, held in honour of outstanding sports achievers for the year 2021/2022 radiated with glory and enthusiasm.

Upon their arrival, the Chief Guest was greeted to a salute, presented by the president scouts, girls’ cadets, and the girls' cadet band. Subsequently, the Principal extended a warm welcome to both the Chief Guest and the accompanying dignitaries.

The Principal, Mrs. Manomi Senevirathne, delivered the welcome speech and explained as to why the Chief Field Engineer and Commander of the Engineer Division was invited to be the Chief Guest. She especially mentioned that the Army’s relentless dedication to promoting sports inspired them to extend this invitation to the eminent military personality.

Under the patronage of the school's principal, this colourful and glamorous event unfolded as a vibrant tribute to the remarkable sporting achievers, Visakhians, both at national and international levels during the years 2021/2022.

In a compelling address, the Chief Guest underscored the profound importance of sports, emphasizing its pivotal role in nurturing mental and physical growth, fostering determination, and instilling a sense of purpose in life.

A captivating audience comprised of students, teachers, and parents filled the occasion which amply recognized exceptional talents and dedication of all achievers.
