The Chief of Defence Staff Receives a Grand Farewell from Home of Keterians

General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff received a distinct farewell from the troops of the Gajaba Regiment, as one of the most distinguished members of the family of Keterians, on 29 December 2024. The outgoing Chief of Defence Staff was warmly welcomed and ceremonially honoured showcasing the grandeur and splendor of the Keterians.

The formal floral tribute started the formalities of the day at the Regimental Monument, which was followed by a Guard Turnout presented by the GR troops.

The outgoing CDS graced the special occasion of floral tribute to the statue of the Late Major General Wijaya Wimalaratne RWP RSP VSV USP psc symbolically paying homage to the Father of the Regiment. This was followed by a ceremonial parade, showcasing the Regiment’s pride and discipline.

The Senior Officer posed for the group photograph with all participants, capturing the spirit of unity and appreciation of the Regimental members, which was followed by the traditional sapling planting within the premises.

The traditional Mess Night was held at the Officers’ Mess of the Gajaba Regiment on the same day evening.

The troops of the Gajaba Regiment bade farewell to the most Senior Officer on active service filled with honour and prestige.
