Chief of Defence Force of MNDF on Goodwill Tour Arrives at Army HQ

The Chief of Defence Force of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Lieutenant General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef, now in Sri Lanka on a goodwill visit called on Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army on Thursday (8) afternoon at the Army Headquarters.

The visiting Army Chief was warmly welcomed at the Army Headquarters in a formal military ceremony and honoured by presenting a Guard of Honour at the entrance.

After introducing the Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters to the visiting Chief of Defence Force of MNDF by the Commander of the Army, all Senior Officers together with the Chief of Defence Force of MNDF appeared for a group photograph.

During the cordial meeting with Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, the Commander of the Army, Chief of Defence Force of MNDF exchanged views on bilateral matters of concern to both the Sri Lanka Army and the Maldives National Defence Force. Adding significance to his visit to the office of the Commander of the Army, the visiting Chief of Defence Force of MNDF left his compliments in the Visitors’ Book at the Commander’s office.

Before his departure, both military leaders, determined to continue their understanding and goodwill, exchanged mementos.

Major General I.A.N.B Perera RWP USP ndu psc, Military Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army, Brigadier General Hassan Shahid, Director General, Directorate of Operations and Training of MNDF and Colonel Hassan Amir, Defence Advisor of High Commission of Maldives in Sri Lanka were also associated with the discussion at the Commander’s office.
