Disabled War Heroes’ Inter Regiment Chess Championship Tournament got underway at the ‘Abhimansala 3’ at Pangolla on Friday (3).
Major General Jagath Gunawardena, Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Brigadier G.M.C.K.B Ekanayake, Chairman Army Chess Committee and Commandant Marksmanship and Sniper Training School (MSTS) at Diyatalawa graced the closing event, together with several Senior Officers.
The championship was conducted under individual and group categories.
A few more than 18 War Heroes from Abhimansala 2, Abhimansala 3 and Ranaviru Sevana Ragama competed for the victory and the group championship was grabbed by the Ranaviru Sevana -Ragama players. 2nd and 3rd places went to Abhimansala 2 and 3 respectively.
