Two more renovation and construction projects, handed over to the Army during the 13th Presidential ‘Gama Samaga Pilisandarak’ project commenced after successful completion of the renovation of five more school playgrounds in the Kurunegala District under the same project.
Accordingly, playground renovations at Giribawa Gampola Primary School and Ihala Maradankadawala Primary school undertaken by 12 (V) Corps of Engineer Services (CES) began on 20th October under the supervision of Brigadier Asanga Perera, Commander of the General Engineering Brigade.
At Giribawa Gampola Primary School, in addition to playground work, troops have been assigned the construction of the teachers’ quarters and a new building. At Ihala Maradankadawala Primary School, troops are supposed to build a new teachers’ quarters and the Presidential Secretariat has allocated a sum of Rs 20 m for both projects.
Under the guidance of the Chief Field Engineer Major General Nihal Amarasekara, the General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division, Major General Chandana Wijayasundera has directed his plant troops to complete the projects before deadlines that have been set.
