A group of 63 Army troops of the 19 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) serving the Security Force Headquarters - Central on Unduwap Full Moon Poya Day (26 Dec) lent their manpower for carriage of God Sumana Saman statue in the procession to be placed atop the Sri Pada that would herald the commencement of the Sri Pada season for veneration.
The procession that commenced from Galpottawela Raja Maha Vihara premises in Ratnapura receives the customary support of Army troops every year with the blessings of the Commander of the Army.
Major General W.W.H.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander Security Forces - Central instructed and encouraged the troops accordingly in order to carry out their task.
