CDS &; Army Commander Visit Worst-Hit Muhamalai

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Air Chief Marshal Donald Perera and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka visited Jaffna on Saturday (02) to review the present security situation there.

Major General G.A. Chandrasiri, Commander Security Forces – Jaffna (SF-J) received the CDS and Army Commander at the Palaly airport.

Later, Air Chief Marshal Donald Perera and Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka along with the SF (J) Commander flew to 55 Division at Mirusivil where Major General G.A. Chandrasiri and Major General Sanath Karunarathne, General Officer Commanding 55 Division, briefed on the security situation and tactical plans before the duo met Brigade and Unit Commanders and discussed the ground situation at the Division Headquarters in Mirisuvil.

Muhamalai in 55 Division area is one of the war- affected areas in Jaffna where LTTE terrorists faced many drawbacks during recent confrontations with Security Forces.
