Giving further boost to the promotion of economic power to needy civilians in the Jaffna peninsula, Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) coordinated the distribution of 100 cattle and 100 goats among 200 low income families, selected by respective Gramaseva officials in 51, 52 and 55 Divisions of the SFHQ-J.
A simple ceremony, organized at Muttvaly ground in the Jaffna town, those 100 cattle and 100 goats were distributed among the beneficiaries by Hon. Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprises Douglas Devananda, as the chief guest, in the company of Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-J.
In addition, 1000 coconut saplings to school students and 500 teak plants, 500 cashew plants, 500 margosa and 500 banana plants to farming families were also distributed on the same occasion by the Chief Guest.
Several religious leaders and senior citizens were present at the event.
