Buddhist Monks with 64 Division Troops Begin to Build New House for Needy Family in Mullaittivu

Following sponsorship, extended jointly by Ven Galgamuwe Shanthabodhi Thero and Ven Piliyandala Amithagosha Thero, 14 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops under command to the 641 Brigade of the 64 Division under the Security Force HQ –Mullaittivu have offered their technical expertise and manpower to build a new house for a needy family in Mannankadal area in Mullaittivu.

The project that corresponds to a concept of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, is meant to uplift the living standards of needy families in respective areas and promote co-operation between members of the Security Forces and the general public.

The foundation stone-laying for erection of the house took place on Saturday (12). Venerable monks and Major General Manjula Karaunarathna, General Officer Commanding, 64 Division laid the first few cornerstones for the construction.

The project was coordinated by Lieutenant Colonel C.D Athuldolarachchi, Commanding Officer, 14 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under the guidelines given by Major General Upali Rajapaksha, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu.
