Brunei's Land Forces Commander in Sri Lanka for the Defence Seminar Pays Courtesy Call on Army Commander

Brigadier-General  Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof bin Haji Abd Rahman, Brunei’s Commander of the Royal Land Forces was one of the firsts to arrive in Sri Lanka to attend Wednesday’s (8) ‘Defence Seminar on 5Rs’at Colombo Galadari Hotel who on Tuesday (7) morning paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya at Army Headquarters.

Brunei’s Brigadier-General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Yussof bin Haji Abd Rahman on arrival at the Army Headquarters premises drove past the Guard Turnout and was received by Colonel Indunil Silva, Centre Commandant, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC).

A Guard of Honour, presented by troops of the SLAC, greeted the visiting Royal Land Forces Commander of Brunei in accordance with military formalities before he was ushered to the Commander’s Secretariat a few minutes later.

During their discussions at the Commander’s office, both military leaders exchanged views on matters of bilateral importance and relevance with special focus on training modules and future cooperation.

Lieutenant General Jayasuriya during the cordial meeting explained current roles and tasks of the Army to the visiting Royal Land Forces Commander after giving him a brief account on recent culmination of humanitarian operations and its aftermath.

Before the conclusion of the interaction, the Commander of the Army appreciated Brigadier-General Abd Rahman’s courtesy call and presented him with a token of memory. The gesture was reciprocated.

The visiting military chief left his signature in the Visitors’ Book at the Commander’s office with a complimentary note before bidding farewell.

During his stay in Sri Lanka for the ‘Defence Seminar on 5Rs’, the Brunei’s Military Chief is scheduled to call on the Secretary Defence and Urban Development and visit several military institutes, including the Sapugaskanda Defence Services Command and Staff College, Maduruoya Special Forces School and a few other places of interest.

Under Brigadier-General Dato Yussof Abd Rahman’s leadership, the depth and scope of bilateral interactions and cooperation among all international military establishments have grown from strength to strength.
