Brunei's Land Force Commander Meets with His Sri Lankan Counterpart


Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army, currently in Brunei attending the Brunei Darussalam International Defence Exhibition (BRIDEX - 2013) and its Conference, themed ‘Bridging the Capability Gap’ called on the Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force Brigadier General Dato Seri Haji Abdul Rahman on Thursday (5) at the latter's office.

A Guard of Honour, presented to the visiting Army Chief from Sri Lanka at the entrance to the Land Force Headquarters, greeted him where he was invited to review the parade in the company of a senior officer of the Royal Brunei Land Force.

A brief meeting that followed between Brigadier General Dato Seri Haji Abdul Rahman, Commander, Royal Brunei Land Force and Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army focused on matters of mutual interest and current military training modules.

The host, Royal Brunei's Commander was particularly interested in learning more about how the Sri Lankan Army succeeded in crushing the world's most ruthless terrorist organization with minimum damage to own force and civilians and post-war reconstruction and reconciliation efforts.

Towards the end of the interactive meeting, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army presented his counterpart in Brunei with a memento to symbolize goodwill that prevails between both military organizations. His counterpart reciprocated and extended his warm greetings to the Sri Lanka Army.

Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army, earlier offered his greetings to His Majesty Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and Crown Prince, His Royal Highness General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah when he met both of them during the inaugural sessions of the 'BRIDEX-2013' and the Conference.
