British Parliamentarian Acclaims Rehabilitation Programme in Vavuniya

A BRITISH delegation headed by British Parliamentarian Mr. Mike Foster, to get first hand experience on humanitarian de-mining conducted by the Army troops with assistance of de-mining teams in Wanni, visited Parappakandal area in Mannar Tuesday (06).

Governor Northern Province Major General (Retd) G.A. Chandrasiri and Commander Security Forces Headquarters (SFHQ-W) Major General Kamal Gunaratne received the delegation on their arrival.

Later, Mr. Foster and the retinue paid a visit to rehabilitation centres in Vavuniya where former LTTE members are being trained for different vocational activities as a part of their rehabilitation programme. Education programmes in progress to give formal education to children who were employed as child soldiers by the LTTE against Security Forces came in for praise of the British delegation.
