Brigadier Roshan Seneviratne Appointed New Military Spokesman

Brigadier A.W.M.P Roshan Seneviratne of Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment has been appointed the new Military Spokesman cum Director Media at Army Headquarters, effective from 30 August 2016.

He succeeds Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera who has been selected for an overseas training course.

The newly-appointed Brigadier Roshan Seneviratne who had been serving as the Deputy Military Liaison Officer at the Ministry of Defence, prior to being appointed as the Military Spokesman/Director Media, joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 1 October 1985 before he was posted to Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery as a Second Lieutenant, having completed his training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy at Diyatalawa.

Brigadier Roshan Seneviratne has to-date held many key command appointments in his Regiment and commanded Infantry Brigades and a Task Force in Jaffna. Similarly, he has also served as Colonel Military Secretariat at the Army Headquarters and the Commandant at Officers’ Career Development Centre at Buttala.

During his 30 year of unblemished military career, he has followed a number of overseas training courses in the field of gunnery, tactics and strategic level and qualified in the National Defence University (ndu) course from China.

Brigadier Roshan Seneviratne is decorated with the Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) medal, Uttama Seva Padakkama (USP) medal and long service medals in recognition of his exemplary military career.

He is a proud product of Kandy Kingswood College and has completed school education in 1984 before he joined the Sri Lanka Army.
