Brigadier Kithsiri Liyanage of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) amid religious blessings and military formalities assumed office as the 24th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 52 Division of the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna on Thursday (3).
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and honoured in a Guard Turnout at the entrance. Afterwards, he was saluted in a formal parade, presented by combined troops of the 16 Gajaba Regiment, 12 Gemunu Watch and 11 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. Afterwards, Brigadier Kithsiri Liyanage amidst chanting of 'Seth Pirith' placed his signature for an official document to mark his assumption of duties. Memories were also left in the premises by planting a sapling before he joined an all rank tea.
Brigadier Kithsiri Liyanage made his first formal address to all Officers and Other Ranks after a while and set out his future plans for the Division and interactive community projects.
