A large stock of vocational equipment and other accessories that would help make a living for low-income group categories was recently distributed among newly-resettled villagers at Bogaswewa, Vavuniya during a recent simple ceremony.
The donation, consists of twelve water pumps, one carpenter tool kit, one cement bricks machine, one rice mil, one grain mil, one mobile phone tool kit, one welding machine and one sewing machine, has been sponsored by ‘Thavalama’ organization and Fund for Buddhist Villages (FBV) in United Kingdom with the coordination of Ven Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero, Presidential Advisor for Religious Affairs.
Ven Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero, Mrs Aira Mediwaka, Chairperson for FBV, Colonel (Retd) Anil Amarasekara, Chairman, ‘Thavalama’ organization, Brigadier D.A.R Ranawaka, General Officer Commanding, 56 Division, Brigadier A.A.I.J Bandara, 563 Brigade Commander, beneficiaries and a total of 182 resettled families, witnessed the event.
Meanwhile, Governor for Northern Province, Major General (Retd) G.A Chandrasiri on Tuesday (14) laid foundation stones for construction of new OPD buildings at Mamaduwa and Bogaswewa hospitals before he attended three more such cornerstone-laying ceremonies at Selalihinigama, Namalgama and Bogaswewa temples.
Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), senior officers and a large gathering attended those occasions.
