Over 200 Gajaba Regiment (GR) Keteriyans in response to a request made by the National Blood Transfusion Service in the Anuradhapura General Hospital generously offered their blood on Friday (16) for the benefit of patients suffering from Cancer, Kidney and Chronic diseases, Thalassemia and also for use during deliveries, etc.
During the blood donation drive at the GR Regimental HQ at Saliyapura, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Colonel of the Regiment, GR, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army paid a surprise visit to the location and motivated the donors while sharing a few thoughts with the medical staff and all ranks, lined up to donate blood.
Consultant, Dr Hansaka Ramanyake at Anuradhapura General Hospital Blood Bank and his staff contributed to the humanitarian project at the request of the GR Regimental HQ.
