More than 200 officers and other ranks volunteered to donate blood for use in hospitals in and around Polonnaruwa during a recent blood donation campaign.
The arrangement, an initiative taken by Brigadier R.W.W.A.D.B Rajaguru, General Officer Commanding, 23 Division, came about after information was received that the Polonnaruwa blood bank in the hospital is in short of blood that could be used for critically ill patients.
A request to this effect was also projected to the 23 Division Headquarters by medical staff at the Blood Bank at Polonnaruwa.
