Bangladesh Army Chief Views Sniper Demonstration

General Mohammed Abdul Mubeen, Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh Army, now on a five-day goodwill visit, arrived at the Sri Lanka Army’s premier training institution, Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) at Diyatalawa Saturday (26) morning, to be warmly received by Brigadier J. R. Kulathunga, Commandant SLMA.

A special Guard Turn Out greeted him at the main archway to the SLMA complex in conformity with military traditions. General Mubeen before the programme’s commencement laid a floral wreath at the foot of the SLMA War Memorial and commemorated the memory of fallen War Heroes. A few minutes later, at the SLMA parade ground, he viewed a training session of the cadet officers.

With a view to giving a broader perspective of the SLMA role to the visiting Army Chief, a special documentary was afterwards screened at the auditorium after the SLMA Commandant delivered the welcome greetings.

Arrangements had also been in place for the visiting Army Chief to view a special sniper demonstration at the field firing range in the Marksman and Sniper Training School in the SLMA complex.

General Mubeen, showing a keen interest in the SLMA and its curricular exchanged views with SLMA authorities over possibilities for expansion of exchange programmes of special military interest.
