AWC Honours its Newly-Promoted Commandant

Troops of the Army War College (AWC) at Buttala honoured their newly-promoted AWC Commandant, Major General U.K.D.D.P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc in a customary ceremony on Saturday (16 Sep) at the AWC premises upon arrival after recent promotion.

Major General U.K.D.D.P Udugama was warmly welcomed by the AWC Deputy Commandant, Brigadier B.P.G.K Balasooriya RSP psc on his arrival and a Guard Turnout saluted the newly-promoted Commandant at the main entrance.

Adding memories, he sat for a group photograph in front of the main auditorium with Officers and Other Ranks serving in the AWC. After a few minutes, he was invited to plant a sapling in the compound as a symbol of the day’s significance.

Afterwards, the Commandant addressed the gathering of all Officers and Other Ranks serving in the AWC and conveyed his gratitude and thanks to all his seniors who guided him to achieve this important milestone in his military career. Further, he also thanked all the AWC staff for the day’s arrangements.

An All Rank tea culminated the day's proceedings. AWC Chief Instructor, Senior Instructors, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present at the brief ceremony.
