Awareness Programme on AIDS Launched in Kilinochchi

 
More than 350 civilians and 500 tri-service and Police personnel serving Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu regions, attended an educational programme on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) to coincide with the World AIDS Day on Monday (Dec 1).

Dr Sathya Herath, a Consultant Community Physician of the National AIDS/STD Control Programme of the Ministry of Health delivered the lectures for both civilians and service personnel at the Nelum Piyasa auditorium of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN).
 
Organized on the directions of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-KLN, the morning session was kept reserved only for civilians in the area.
 
SFHQ-KLN in cooperation with the National AIDS/STD Control Programme, Regional Director of Health Services, Kilinochchi and Director of Health Services for the Northern Province, launched the project. The inauguration of the lecture session was attended by Brigadier H.S Seneviratne, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division and a representative group of senior officers.
