Awareness Lecture on ‘Drug Prevention’ Held for students at Thirukkovil

8 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard of the 242 Infantry Brigade of the 24 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ - East organized a lecture on ‘Prevention from Illicit Drugs and Drug Addiction’ at Thambiluwil Central College and Methodist Mission Tamil Mixed School in Thirukkovil on Monday (6 November).

Over 300 students of both schools attended the lecture session. The informative lecture was delivered by Mr. M.M.P.B.M Rashad, Coordinating Officer of the North and Eastern province National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB). The lecture focused on adverse effects, illicit substances, varieties of dangerous drugs and the impact of such uses and repercussions.

The programme was launched on a concept of Major General M.K.U.P Gunarathne RSP ndu psc IG, Commander, Security Forces - East and organized under the supervision of Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division. Colonel K.P.L Amunupure RWP RSP USP, Commander, 242 Infantry Brigade and Major E.D.S.K Deniyaya, Commanding Officer, 8 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard jointly supervised the arrangement.
