Australian High Commissioner Discusses COVID-19 Preventive Roles with Army Chief

High Commissioner of Australia for Sri Lanka, His Excellency David Holly on Friday (20) paid a courtesy call on Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff & Commander of the Army at the Army HQ.

Talks between the visiting High Commissioner and the Commander of the Army centered largely on the current predicament on the transmission of deadly COVID -19 in the country and the world at large. The visiting envoy also received an update on the functions of island-wide Quarantine Centres and other preventive measures, being implemented from Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva who is also the Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak.

The visiting High Commissioner assured his fullest cooperation to the ongoing prevention measures and concerns of the Army. At the end of the cordial interaction, He left compliments in the Visitors’ Book at the Commanders’ Office.

Group Captain Sean Unwin, Defence Advisor at the Australian High Commission was also associated with the meeting at the Commanders office.
