ATS M’Oya Celebrated Independence

Army Training School (ATS) at Maduru Oya contributed to the commemoration of the 70th Independence Day inside the premises by planting saplings and other formalities under the patronage of its Commandant, Brigadier Jayantha Seneviratne on Sunday (4).

All Officers and Other Ranks planted saplings, like Kumbuk (Terminalia Arjuna) and Kaluwara (Ceylon Ebony) during the ceremony.

The Commandant, ATS, Brigadier Jayantha Seneviratne hoisted the National Flag in the morning to mark the Independence. Afterwards, a two-minute silence was observed to commemorate the patriots who had sacrificed their lives for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, necessary arrangements were also in place enabling all soldiers to witness the live telecast of the National Independence day celebration at the Gall Face Green in Colombo.

Thereafter, ATS gave its helping hand to the Student of PO/Kandegama Maha Vidyalaya who showed her talents at provincial level athletics by way of distributing essential items and school accessories.
