ATS Hosts Passing Out Parade for CIJW and SIO Course Graduates

The Passing Out Parade of 56 Officers and 246 Other Ranks from the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare (CIJW) Officers Course No. 34, Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare (Other Ranks) Course No. 37, and the Special Infantry Operations (SIO) Course No. 75 was held on 31 July 2024 at the Army Training School, Maduruoya.

Major General S.W.B. Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndc, the Director General Infantry and the Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and witnessed the parade. The Chief Guest, along with Senior Officers, awarded badges to the course participants.

The following Officers and Other Ranks received special awards during the passing out parade:

CIJW (Officers) Course No. 34:

The Best Student Officer – Captain H.I. Jayawilal of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment

CIJW (Other Ranks) Course No. 37:

The Best Student – Corporal D.M. Nawarathna of the 2nd Battalion of the Special Forces Regiment

SIO Course No. 75:

Best Physical – Lance Corporal A.G.C.L. Weerasinghe of the 8th Battalion, Gajaba Regiment

Best Shooter – Lieutenant Y.G.T. Thilakarathne of the Gajaba Regiment

Best Student Other Ranker – Corporal D.M.I. Dissanayake of the 8th Battalion, Gajaba Regiment

Best Student Officer – Lieutenant W.I.U. Warnasuriya of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment

Best Section – 1st Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry
