With the onset of the southwest monsoon, heavy showers exceeding 100mm occurred in most parts of the Puttalam District, resulting in widespread flooding. The affected areas faced significant challenges, including a need for cooked meals for displaced residents.
In response to a request from the Divisional Secretariat Puttalam for assistance, rations were provided to prepare meals for 400 affected individuals. Under the guidance of Major General C.A Rajapakse RSP, the General Officer Commanding of the 58 Infantry Division, 400 meal packs were prepared and handed over to officials of the Divisional Secretariat Puttalam on 20 May 2024.
